germs. bare feet. nightmares.
the little weeb at mcdonalds playland. both kids love it and why not. for me it's a nightmare. besides being mcdonalds, it's full of kid germs AND barenaked feet! ew ew ew.
in high school some cheerleaders got foot fungi from the floor in the gym. since then i am very super plus terrified of public places with naked feet. every time i go through security at the airport i consider a full body search instead of taking my shoes off. ew. billions of naked feet goop all over my feet.

oh emily, you said it so well. mcdonalds playland is like the perfect storm of all my phobias- a swirling, germy mess of a storm. and yet, you gotta do it. it's a good exercise in self-restraint for me. immersion therapy.
I seriously hate playlands. They're a bacteria sess-pool. I worry more about what all of the little slobbery, snotty nosed kids have had their sticky little hands into before touching the slides and railings. Nathan has just gotten over rotavirus along with a trip to the ER for an IV, so now I'm super paranoid about those types of places. I'm with you!
I don't really have to worry about children's playlands but the airport doesn't really bother me. Most of the time I am wearing socks when I go through but in the crazy heat of summer my feet absolutely refuse to wear socks so I just suck it up and walk through barefoot except the times I remember to throw a pair of socks in my bag (rarely). I tell myself it isn't that bad because I walk in a really weird way that allows the minimum amount of foot to touch the floor. I curl my toes up and lean on the inside of the ball of my foot. My arches are so high the middle doesn't touch anyway. Weird, yes. Comforting? Somehow, yes.
sounds like you have a little phobia Em... just repeat my mantra. "Whatever doesn't kill them, only makes them stronger!" I also adhere to the 10 sec rule on dropped food. Even at McDonalds. You can go ahead and puke now.
