we're still married

ok. i'm the first to admit, i am the last person who needs another diaper bag. last year i got a screaming deal on this diaper bag, and i've been quite attached to it since. that is saying a lot.

so when ethan told me he was going to 'test' a diaper bag for studio 5 the first thing i wanted to know- can i keep it when you're done? the happy answer- yes!

i was pleased as punch when he brought home the ohsolovely swag bag from jj cole. my expectations were low, it would take quite a winner to beat out my little dwell bag. i was pleasantly surprised, it's the perfect i'm-a-purse-not-a-diaper-bag diaper bag.

and then the devastating news. ethan would be dropping the bag out of an airplane to test it's durability. what? i told ethan that was a waste of a perfectly good diaper bag and everyone we discussed it with agreed.

he wouldn't budge. the bag was getting dropped:

happily the bag survived AND i just found this fantastic piece of info about washing it. genius.

honestly, the dwell is still my preferred baby diaper bag, and soon we're adding this beauty to the family,  (another ridiculous deal) so i didn't really need another one. but i'm very happy it made it!

he doesn't do the waffles justice. seriously. they are soooooooo good and crunchy and ooey-gooey good.

happy casual easter

many thanks to the people in charge who scheduled the twice-yearly watch-church-in-your-pajamas on Easter this year. casual Easter was much easier to handle clothing-wise.

at the risk of opening the door to my housekeeping skills.... i am posting this hilarious photo.  i should probably be more concerned about what you think of my mothering.  here's what this photo is telling us:

• mama doesn't clean the boys bedroom enough
• the sun is out, it's morning, mama is still in bed
• so is daddy
• 4yo has daddy's phone
• the phone was given to 4yo to keep him quiet while daddy slept
• 2yo is a monkey
• time to move the changing table out of the bedroom!

the weeb's birthday!

like everything else involving my 3yo's birthday, this post is late.  i planned a family party, then decided to cancel because i couldn't get my crap together in time.  so on his birthday i made him bug cupcakes.  for breakfast.  and a silly lunch.  it all turned out well, thank goodness.  sadly, everyone missed the festivities but us!

a little fella

last week two half-dead flies babysat my children for about an hour.

they were honestly fascinated, i shouldn't be surprised.  i talked to bugs on more than one occasion when i was little.

the best part was their conversation.

things 3yo and 4yo said while watching the flies:

• he's at fly school
• he's just a little fella
• his family is right there in that spot
• that spot is warm, he sits there so he can be warm
• he went outside and got cold, now he's getting warm
• i'm warm
• how does he have lots of feet?
• that's why he doesn't bite people
• you can't just touch him, he will break your body
• don't touch him!  i won't!
• he was doing this (laid on back with arms & legs wiggling in the air)
• he was up-spy-down
• i can dance like that!
• i can do the fly dance!
